About TrustPoint Legal
Originally founded as Baker Heath, PLLC in January 2020, the firm was rebranded to TrustPoint Legal, PLLC in January 2024. TrustPoint Legal was formed after years of working for highly respected regional law firms handling complex wealth planning matters. With that knowledge in hand, TrustPoint Legal is uniquely positioned to handle sophisticated estate planning projects but is happy to tackle day-to-day issues that arise for families and businesses requiring quick, reliable, and affordable counsel.
Our goal is to inspire confidence, create value, and achieve your desired outcomes. We look forward to challenging the status quo in the legal industry when it comes to fees, culture, communication, and innovation.
Families and businesspeople choose not to engage when attorneys fail to guide them in a manner that aligns with their values and expectations.
At TrustPoint Legal, we serve with the purpose of creating value and trust so that we inspire confidence and build long-term relationships with our clients while minimizing their legal risks.
How We Work
1. You Get In Touch
You can contact us by phone, email, or through the contact page on this website. We will get back to you no later than the next business day (usually same day) to discuss how we can be of service.
2. Free Consultation
We will schedule a free consultation by phone or in person. At this consultation, we will get to know you and understand your estate planning needs.
3. Communicate a Plan
We will communicate a plan for handling your representation and discuss any questions or concerns you may have. You will also be provided with an estimate of the cost of handling your matter and in some cases we may be able to handle your matter for a flat fee.
4. Engagement
When you are ready to move forward, we will send you an engagement letter. Our attorney-client relationship will commence when you sign and return this letter.
5. We Deliver
We will work diligently on your matter to ensure it is completed on time and in accordance with your expectations. We will communicate with you regularly and will always be available to answer your questions.
Our Rates
We believe in being fully transparent and we don’t ever want you to be surprised by the amount of your bill. After learning about your needs and defining the scope of the work to be done, we will discuss with you which billing option is best suited to your engagement. We currently offer the following billing options:
Hourly Billing
You will be billed for the number of hours we spend working on your matter.
Prior to starting work on any matter, we will provide you with an estimate of our fees for the scope of work we have discussed. In the event that the scope of work changes or events arise that we anticipate will increase our fees beyond the estimate, we will communicate with you as soon as possible to ensure that we stay on the same page.
Flat Fee
You will be billed a flat fee for an agreed scope of work.
Prior to starting work on any matter, you will be provided with a written fee proposal that clearly describes the agreed upon scope of work and the amount of the flat fee for that work. So long as the scope of work doesn’t materially change, the flat fee will remain the same regardless of the time actually spent on your matter. If material changes occur in the scope of work, we will promptly address any potential impact on fees with you.
Hybrid
You will be billed a flat fee for an agreed portion of the scope of work and the remaining portion will be billed at our hourly rates.
Prior to starting work on any matter, we will provide you with an estimate of our fees for the scope of work we have discussed. The fee proposal will also clearly describe which portion of the work will be performed for a flat fee and which portion will be performed at our hourly rates.
Retainers and Expenses
For most hourly engagements we will require you to provide us with a retainer prior to commencing work. Your retainer acts as a security deposit and gives us both confidence in our commitment to move forward with your engagement. Your retainer will be held in trust and be applied against the final invoice for your engagement and then any remaining amounts will be refunded to you. Flat fee engagements do not require a retainer. Our current retainer for standard engagements is $4,000.
In addition to our fees, we do pass through certain expenses we incur on your behalf. Examples of these expenses include filing fees, online database charges, travel, and shipping charges. We will communicate with you in advance of incurring any material expenses on your behalf.
